J.W. Sweem was born in Nebraska and raised from to sea shining sea as an Army brat. Currently she lives in Texas, but her heart will always yearn for Savannah, GA. After getting her undergraduate degree in Art at the University of the Incarnate Word life took her into the corporate world for almost two decades.

Meanwhile she explored different art forms like paining, film, and photography alongside honing her craft with storytelling. In addition to writing books, she continues to explore screenwriting, photography, and art projects with her youngest.

When she isn’t writing she enjoys spending time with her family trying new recipes and catching up on her queue of movies and shows. Much like her ideas for stories, the size of her TBR list will not be finished in her lifetime. In the scheme of things, this isn’t a terrible problem to have.

A lifelong artist, she thrives in the art of creation in any form. Her greatest goal as an artist is to change the worlds that strangers hold deep inside themselves.

“Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life: they feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored.

We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It's like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea.

You can't stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship.”
