The first day of school starts like any other. Bridgette is eager to start her fifth year teaching English to rambunctious teenagers, which is incredibly similar to leading soldiers in the Army in what seems like a lifetime ago. Tragically the day is cut short when she dies bleeding onto the carpet in front of the library.
Now a dime store gift shop at the edge of existence challenges everything she believes about heaven and her faith. The enigmatic shopkeeper only offers nonsensical help which leaves Bridgette to search through her own grief and fears for her family to grasp onto some sort of meaning in her death. Among all of this she has to answer one question: What comes next?
